Is it a workshop light<\/strong>? A breakdown light<\/strong>? Is it a camping light<\/strong>? Or an emergency light<\/strong>?In fact it\u2019s all of these, and more.<\/p>\n

The Hardkorr U-Lite\u2122 Dual Colour Universal Lantern has developed a huge cult following since its release in 2018, and now we\u2019ve made it even better! Not only is it 50% brighter, but we\u2019ve ditched the AAA batteries and replaced them with an inbuilt rechargeable lithium battery, making the lantern even easier to use.<\/p>\n

After the upgrades the lantern still weighs only 85g, and with both an inbuilt magnet and durable elastic strap and curved profile, it can attach to wheel wells, under bonnets, tool or tackle boxes, tent poles, caravans, awnings, camper trailers, fences and many more places. It also comes with the same bug-reducing orange\/white technology that has made our camp light kits so famous, plus a flashing orange mode for emergencies.<\/p>\n

It is IP66 waterproof, and battery life is 4-6 hrs on high setting and 90+ hrs on low setting.<\/p>\n

How does the orange Bug-Resistant mode work?<\/h6>\n

Some bugs, like mosquitos and moths, can\u2019t help but move their body towards any light source they can see. This phenomenon is called positive phototaxis. Entomologists still don\u2019t have a complete understanding of why this phenomenon exists, but it is clearly observable in nature.<\/p>\n

Of course, bugs will only be attracted to light they can see, and there is a useful difference between the spectra of light which are visible to humans compared to bugs. Humans can generally see light which has a wavelength between 380nm (blue) and 740nm (red). Most bugs, conversely, can see light with a wavelength between 300nm and 600nm.<\/p>\n

The wavelength of our orange LEDs is 610nm, putting them outside of the spectrum visible to must bugs, but still well inside the boundaries of human vision. As a result, most bugs will not congregate around our orange light because they simply don\u2019t know it is there.<\/p>\n
